The Water Academy is hiring a Part-Time Visiting Water Education Teacher.

Wilkins Works Inc., Zone 7 Water Agency’s outreach consultant is seeking a dynamic and engaging individual to join their team to help support our outreach efforts. In this role, you will serve as a water conservation ambassador, teaching our carefully curated water education lessons to students in TK – 12th grade across 3.5 school districts. You will also have opportunities to participate in community outreach events, sharing the importance of water conservation with the public. This position is ideal for retired teachers, those seeking a career break, or those looking for flexible work hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Instruction: Deliver engaging and informative water education lessons to students in grades TK-12.
  • Curriculum Delivery: Utilize prepared lesson plans and materials to effectively communicate key concepts related to water conservation, water resources, and the role of Zone 7 Water Agency.
  • Public Outreach: Represent Zone 7 Water Agency at community events, such as festivals and farmers markets, to educate the public about water conservation practices.
  • Scheduling and Travel: Coordinate with schools to schedule presentations and travel to various school sites across the region.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records of presentations, attendance, and student engagement using Google Sheets and Gmail.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; teaching credential highly desired.
  • Classroom management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and transport materials between classrooms and school sites.
  • Reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license and insurance.
  • Proficiency with Google Sheets, Gmail, and basic audiovisual equipment.
  • Must provide own computer.
  • Additional Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with water conservation practices and environmental science.
  • Experience with public speaking and community outreach.
  • Passion for educating and inspiring others about water conservation.
