Zone 7 Recognized for Excellence in Budgeting
LIVERMORE, Calif. (June 28, 2021) – The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has presented the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award to Zone 7 Water Agency for its two-year budget beginning July 1, 2020. The award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and reflects Zone 7’s commitment to public transparency and accountability.
The GFOA established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program (Budget Awards Program) in 1984 to encourage and assist state and local governments to prepare budget documents of the very highest quality that reflect both the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA’s best practices on budgeting and then to recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal.
Documents submitted to the Budget Awards Program are reviewed by selected members of the GFOA professional staff and by outside reviewers with experience in public-sector budgeting. In order to receive the budget award, Zone 7 had to satisfy fourteen nationally recognized criteria.
“I am proud of our finance team. They’ve earned this award by working hard every day to keep Zone 7 financially accountable to its customers in the Livermore-Amador Valley”, General Manager Valerie Pryor applauded.
