Alamo Creek Bank Stabilization and Flood Management Pilot Project Initial Study / Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MND)
Environmental Documents
The Alamo Creek Bank Stabilization and Flood Management Pilot Project seeks to reduce erosion and manage flood risks along Alamo Creek in Dublin, CA. The project involves a series of bank stabilization modules aimed at reducing erosion, preventing bank failure, and improving habitat for aquatic and riparian species. The modules will include rock weirs, vegetated soil lifts, and native plantings to stabilize the creek banks and redirect turbulent flows. This project will inform Zone 7’s Flood Management Plan for wider use throughout Zone 7’s system. Project is located on Alamo Creek in Dublin, CA, north of Dublin Blvd., and immediately downstream of a large concrete structure where South San Ramon Creek joins Alamo Creek. Work is limited to public property owned by Zone 7. Trail closures are expected during construction.
Project Schedule and Updates: The goal is to begin construction in summer 2025, but this is dependent on securing authorizations from state and federal environmental regulatory agencies.
CEQA Public Review / Zone 7 Approval: As per the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), Zone 7 is the Lead Agency for the Project. In compliance with CEQA, Zone 7 prepared a Draft Initial Study / Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MND) for the Project and made it available for the required 30-day public review from Monday January 27, 2025, through Friday, February 28, 2025.
A Final IS/MND has been prepared which reflects comments received on the draft document. The Zone 7 Board of Directors will consider adopting the final IS/MND at their regular meeting on April 16, 2025, at 7 p.m. Meeting agendas are posted at http://www.zone7water.com.
